It is with great sorrow that we will not be able to celebrate Holy Week together at Holy Spirit parish. In one sense it is a reminder of our interacting with the Gospels this week…. We can relive the suffering (sheltering in place- loneliness and the corona virus itself) death (illness, death and separation) and the resurrection (the knowledge that we are still One Body in Christ, and the celebration when we can once again be together)! It is really a lived experience this year.
With that said, I have been reviewing different alternatives so we can continue to grow in faith together over Holy Week. The Pastoral Center offered a beautiful package that I think you and your family will love. It involves the whole family. If you have older children and teens in your family have them lead some of the readings or activities. I hope you will take time to celebrate this beautiful season.

If you would like to access a mass online you can find one anytime of the day. Just go to http://mass-online.org.
Some of the parishes will also be having Good Friday services, Stations of the Cross, and Rosaries. Check it out!
Please know that I am praying for each one of you and your families for health, peace and patience in this season of “sheltering in place.” If any of you need prayers for a particular need please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I would love to hear from all of you to know how you are doing. If you have any fun pictures of things you are doing at home, send them to our Facebook page (Holy Spirit Parish-Santa Rosa).
Fr. Ron sent out this prayer yesterday and asked if I would pass it on to you….
A Holy Spirit Parish Prayer in Time of Corona-Virus
Almighty and All–loving God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
We know You did not send this pandemic upon us.
We know that You weep with us,.
We pray to you through Christ the Healer –
For those who suffer from the Coronavirus – Covid–19,
In our land and across the whole world.
We pray too, for all who reach out to those who mourn the loss
Of each and every person who has died as a result of contracting the disease.
We pray especially for all those who will die today, alone,
Abandoned, or with no one to be with them at the hour of their death.
And so, we pray with Mother Mary, that she may console them in their final hour.
Hail Mary, full of Grace
The Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb…
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now, and at the hour of our [their] death.
Give Wisdom to policy-makers,
To set aside political agendas
For the good of all, great and small.
Please continue to give skill to healthcare professionals and researchers,
- Divine Grace to doctors and nurses and all who staff our hospitals,
- Comfort to everyone in anguish,
- And a sense of Calm to us all in these days of uncertainty and distress.
This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord
Who showed compassion to the outcast,
Acceptance to the rejected,
And love to those… to whom no love was shown.
We know, Lord, You hear us,
Teach us how to pray.
Help us to see how You are answering us, so that we,
Your people of Holy Spirit Parish,
May continue in prayer in these times of trial and tribulation.
Trusting in You.
We pray, now and forevermore.
