Pastor’s Desk 7.31.22

……from your Pastor’s Desk

Well, I told you last week that God hears and answers our prayers. And sometimes real fast! It wasn’t just a few weeks ago I mentioned that we are looking for several teachers for our Religious Education Program, and asked your prayers.

Well – we found them – or, maybe, they found us. So, I asked each of them to write a short Bio so you can get to know them by name and what group[s] they will be teaching/leading.

First off, we have Lynn Lankford. She will teach our 2nd Grade ‘First Communion’ class. She also works with Adults, as you will read in her Bio.

Hello, I’m Lynn Lankford, native Santa Rosan who returned “home” to retire from a career as a CPA (no, I can’t help you with your taxes!). In 2015, I felt God tapping me on the shoulder to teach the second grade Sacraments class. Working with your kids to help them know Jesus brings me great joy. You can find me in choir each weekend singing the alto harmonies, running the video board, or working with our homebound parishioners. Please join me next Tuesday, August 2, at 2 p.m., in the back of church to watch Season 2 of The Chosen and listen to the Bible Roundtable discussion.

Next, we have Sharon Marts. She will direct our Youth Group – which covers 8-12 graders. Many of you will recognize her as our ‘Flute’ player at Mass

I’m a lifelong Catholic, current music ministry member (flute) and a married mom of 3 from ages 14-21. I am also project coordinator at an educational non-profit that helps lead professional training serving children in need. I look forward to leading the Holy Spirit Youth Group this year in support of our teens on their faith journeys.

Then we have Michelle Davis who will teach the 2nd year Confirmation Class, Grade 7

I have been married for 31 years to my high school sweetheart. We have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. We have attended Holy Spirit for 18 years. I am a cradle Catholic and I like to be active and I like to have fun.

And last, but MOST CERTAINLY not least – Jessica Coffey. She will teach grades K-5 and conduct our ‘Circle of Grace’ sessions. Jessica will also teach our First Year Confirmation–Grade 6.

I am very excited to join as the K-5 Family Faith Formation and First Year Confirmation Teacher. I live in Sonoma with my husband and two sons. I earned my teaching credential from Sonoma State University and my Basic Cate-chist Certificate through the Santa Rosa Diocese. I taught in both public and private school settings. I have experience teaching and learning from children for many years in 1st-6th grades. I am excited to begin this new adventure with the Holy Spirit Family. Thank you for your warm welcome.

So, there you go. I know some of you are interested in being ‘Teacher’s Aides’ for our program. Please let me know if God is ‘nudging’ you in that direction.

Fr. Ron
