On our bulletin Board near the back door of church you will see some posters that advocate saying no to Proposition 1.
Some might say that this is a violation of ‘Separation of Church and State’. It is not.
As a Church, even as a ‘Non-Profit, we are free to advocate for policies and legislation and so we are free to post notices and even speak about Proposition 1, which proposes a California Constitutional Amendment which would declare that abortion is a Constitutional Right in California.
I know that I am ‘preaching to the choir’ as you all well know what our long-standing beliefs are on abortion. If not, here is a quick review.
Human Life BEGINS at conception [with a Soul]
God is the author of ALL life.
All life is SACRED – all life is HOLY.
I encourage you to see beyond Political Party boundaries and vote not just from the head, but from the heart and the soul.
There is a wonderful document published by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops entitled; ‘Forming Consciences For Faithful Leadership’. it is extremely well done I encourage all to go on to this website and read it. It is both informing and enlightening, addressing the various moral issues we face in our day and time, and what exactly our beliefs and teachings are – and why.
There is also some information by the bulletin board regard-ing Natural Family Planning and some beautiful prayer cards featuring the artwork “Mother of Life” by Nellie Edwards, with a ‘Prayer for Pregnant Mothers’.
In your service,
Father Ron
